Welcome to the Last Stand agents.
This past week, The Division shocked a good amount of fans with the release of The Last Stand DLC. Why is this shocking? Well, it’s because Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft decided awhile back to delay all the remaining DLC in order to “perfect” the game. But what does that mean about the DLC? Much like Underground and Survival had some awesome concepts to the overall game, The Last Stand kindof feels like a kick in the junk.
Before we get into it, let’s go back and see what is/was The Last Stand. The Last Stand is the final (sort of) DLC for The Division which talks about the final push against Amherst’s plan to spread the virus beyond NYC. However, that’s not what we got. What we got was a strict PvP mode which pits players in the Dark Zone in a 8v8 mode that is comparable to Conquest mode from Battlefield. Which has you playing for control over 3 areas that you need to capture and hold in order to upload intel back to the F.O.B. You also have 3 new Dark Zone areas (7, 8 & 9) to the map where all the enemies are lvl.34 with Yellow Health Bars. So, is that it? Yes, yes it is. Unfortunately that seems to be all there is to do in this final DLC for The Division and really it’s just like I stated before, it’s a kick in the junk that player’s (like myself) got where there is no PvE mode to The Last Stand, which as some player’s were speculating that there was going to be a mode for PvE like the Hoard Mode for Gears of War 4.
Now, none of this affects my score for The Last Stand. However with The Last Stand there really wasn’t much to grade on. In The Last Stand, you have a new PvP mode and new Dark Zone areas but that is it. There are no story missions (even Destiny had a couple with there DLCs) to help fill in the gaps after the final mission with Keener and what Amherst has planned or to try and stop him. Although the PvP mode isn’t bad, there is no real matchmaking system in which if you are not at peak level you are doomed from the getgo. With that I give The Division: The Last Stand a 4 out of 10.
Final Score
A really horrible end to a really good game.
