5 Games That Should Be Remade Next

In recent years, many games of the past have been remade for the current generation of consoles, including the newest announcement in Burnout Paradise and MediEvil. I know that most games that were created for past consoles come back with a new concept or a different story, but these games are ones that we should bring back with their original story and concept.

#5: King of the Monsters

Release Date: 1991

Platform: Neo Geo, Super NES, and Sega Genesis

King of the Monsters is a classic game that was an interesting take on games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, in King of the Monsters, you choose 1 of 4 monsters to do battle in a random city while going on a world tour of destruction campaign or fight against a friend in a city of your choice. So why remake the game? With games like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Injustice 2 and movies like Godzilla (2014), King of the Monsters would be a great way to get kids to have the fun of playing a fighting game without the over the top violence that comes with the current gen of fighting game, it also would be a great canidate for bringing back the local multiplayer scene. Not to mention you are giant monsters fighting each other in a city that is being destroyed while you fight, how sweet is that.

#4: Gundam Battle Assault

Release Date: 2000

Platform: Playstation

To be completely honest, this is a personal choice but I’ll give it a try to convince you why. Many would say that Mobile Suit Gundam was the pioneer of the modern day anime, but Gundam Battle Assault was a 2D side scrolling fighter featuring some of the best Mobile Suits in the Franchise duking it out in a mash-up from the franchises’ best series such as Mobile Suit Gundam, G Gundam and even Gundam Wing. Although it did have a run at the PS2 with Gundam Battle Assault 3 which was pretty bad in both gameplay and ratings, Gundam Battle Assault 1 & 2 was given positive reviews. However with the success of Dragon Ball FighterZ becoming a successful 2D fighter, this has opened the door for this surprising fighting game to get the reboot treatment. And besides, with the awesome look of Goku’s Kamehameha Wave, how sweet would it be to see Wing Zero’s Double Buster Cannons get a destructive finish.

#3: Goldeneye

Release Date: 1997

Platform: Nintendo 64

Even though Goldeneye did see a reboot not to long ago which was actually rated as pretty bad; Goldeneye is still the third best selling Nintendo game out there and it is touted as being one of the best, if not the best FPS game of all time. Goldeneye returning to the Switch and even (maybe) other consoles, would be a great way to bring back local multiplayer instead of relying on online multiplayer where issues of Cyber Bullying, lagging are huge. But keeping this game as original as possible would be the best, just upgrade the graphics and call it a day. Because, how many of you out there would love to dual wield some rocket launchers in the canyon map once more while you screen peak (don’t worry we won’t tell anyone).

#2: Hydro Thunder

Release Date: 1998

Platform: Arcade game, PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Xbox, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, Microsoft Windows, GameCube

Before we get started, Hydro Thunder was released as a DLC game for the Xbox a few years back. But Hydro Thunder is one of those racing games that can be a great experience for all ages and with the resurgence of Burnout: Paradise, Hydro Thunder would be a great addition to the current gen of consoles. So why remake it? With games like Need for Speed and Forza, Hydro Thunder would be a great alternative to those who don’t necessarily want to play the same kind of game for the last 5 years and can give you endless options for cool designs of boats and transformations. Because lets face it, a racing boat that transforms when you pick up a can of NOS is a great gimmick that should never be forgotten.

#1: Legends of Dragoon

Release Date: 1999

Platform: PlayStation, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable

During an age of multiple RPGs that was ruled primarily by Final Fantasy (Final Fantasy 7 to be exact), not many of them could break the popularity that FF7 had. But that’s where Legends of Dragoon comes in. A game that takes you on a journey for revenge in a world where you strive to become an ancient dragon warrior known as Dragoons. The reason this is the #1 game needing a remake is simple, it is a turn base game that featured great controls and cinematics (for the time), this game took on the likes of Final Fantasy and survived it’s time in the sun. It is also good to note, this is a game where you would become one of these ancient warriors which comes with a pretty sick armor and devastating attacks. So how could you go wrong?

Now like many of you, I have been a little unsure on how having more remakes would benefit anyone. But there are a lot of games from the past 25 years that definitely deserve the remake status over games that came out during the PS3 and Xbox 360 era. These games would be a perfect to show the newer generation of gamers the quality of the games most of us grew up with and spent our weekends playing with friends.
