Here is our Fallout 4 Preliminary Review (PS4)
“War… War never changes”
When Fallout 4 was announced, many asked the same question, “Can it outdo Fallout 3?” and “Can it fix what Fallout: New Vegas F***ed up?” I can assure you that at this point of the game it has done both of these seamlessly.
Story:
The story starts off with you (survivor) starting just before D-Day creating your character. if you haven’t played this game yet, this has one of the most in depth character creation systems that has probably ever been in a game before (my opinion of course). After you complete this portion, you begin a normal day just before the bombs fall and at that point you begin running for the vault and shortly after this you emerge after 200 years of hiding (not going to tell you why) into the world we all know and love. When it comes to the story for Fallout 4, I am constantly impressed with the amount of depth that is in each conversation and the expansive amount of main and side quest stories that are too numerous to get into right now. With each conversation you have, I continually become more and more impressed with the amount of quality back stories and issues you come across.
I give the story (so far) a 9 out of 10. An in depth look at the politics of the new world is great but could use some connectivity through “word of mouth” for some of your choices.

Gameplay:
If anyone remembers playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas, you know that the controls were a little on the clunky side and left room for some improvement. Well… Bethesda heard us and this time around they reached out to ID Software (Doom remake, Rage) to help bring a more fluid system to the gameplay and controls. After playing for a few hours, it appears that the partnership paid off in a big way. The controls are as fluid as that you would see in Call of Duty and even during intense gunfights, the controls and gameplay continue to stay true to what they strived to create.
I give the Gameplay a 10 out of 10.

Graphics:
With each new game that wants to be “the biggest and best”, sometimes you need to sacrifice graphics to achieve that goal. From the moment I began playing Fallout 4, this game has been nothing short of breath taking. the landscape looks amazing (for a post-apocalyptic world) and character models look better than ever. The only issue that i have been running into is some issues with facial movements and dialogue. One area where it shows is when you first visit Diamond City and certain characters seem to be taking their cues from a bad 60’s japanese movie translation.
I give the Graphics a 9 out of 10. Almost perfect but there are a few things that slipped through the Q.C. process.

I give Fallout 4 (right now) a 9.3 out of 10.
